Brit Insurance Holdings plc, a leading UK general insurer, has gone live with Sequel’s Eclipse, a new 'single view' solution that will manage its London Market and Reinsurance portfolio.
Designed and implemented by Sequel, the London based insurance technology providers, Eclipse provides a processing, management and administration solution for Lloyd's Agents, London Market Companies and Brokers, which will be used by all Brit Underwriters, both across the Company and Lloyd’s operations.
As a "single view" system, Eclipse replaces five of the original applications employed by Brit, and effectively streamlines business processing across Companies and Lloyd's.
Brit's choice of Eclipse was largely due to its ability to provide a progressive approach to technology with immediate functionality, a structured development environment and rapid customisation capability in anticipation of changing market needs. All these factors are in line with Brit's forward thinking IT strategy, specifically developed to underpin their vision for Straight Through Processing (STP).
David Smith Sequel’s Managing Director is delighted that Eclipse has now proven that a true component based package can be deployed in record time at one of the UK’s largest insurers. "Eclipse is now running the day to day operations of a range of businesses in the London Market., We have managed to combine the strength of a package with the flexibility of modern architecture. Brit and Sequel have proven that the combination of sound methodology, committed teams and Eclipse equals rapid success."
“I am delighted that Brit is again leading the way in the revolution of insurance business process”, says Brit’s Deputy Chief Executive, Dane Douetil, “The new system has been enthusiastically embraced by our underwriters, who particularly like the real-time quality information Eclipse provides them linked to their personalised digital dashboard. I am particularly pleased with the success of the project management team that encompassed all of Brit’s operating and underwriting functions - which allowed the system to go live less than a year from conception. It bodes well for our ongoing business process initiatives”.
John Krekis, Brit's Group IT Director is extremely pleased with initial results: ‘Within five months of contract signature with Sequel, Brit is up and running with a new system that is versatile, fully functional, has improved access and is cost effective. Moreover, we delivered it on time - I think a first for the London Markets. We’ve completed the first step in our STP strategy with the successful implementation of ACORD XML messages from RI3K into Brit. The partnership approach maximised and leveraged the strength of both teams and has been key to the success of the project."
