6 months after launching our Business Analysis Apprenticeship Programme

We announced the launch of our Business Analysis Apprenticeship Programme in London during September 2021 to show our commitment to supporting individuals who have an interest in pursuing a career in technology.

6 months on, we have hired 4 new apprentices, here's what one of them has to say about the programme:

"I joined Sequel's apprenticeship programme after having studied English Literature at University. I felt that this apprenticeship would be a great opportunity to move into working in technology without having the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) background that a lot of entry/grad level positions require.

My experience of the apprenticeship so far has been excellent. It is run through a company called QA, who provide support in building a portfolio to ensure that you are on track to reach an end point assessment and have the apprenticeship certified by BCS (British Computer Society).

20% of my time each week is allocated to working on the QA side of the apprenticeship tasks, with the other 80% being on-the-job learning where I work within the Broking & MGA Team.

I had no prior experience of working in insurance or technology so there was, and still is, a steep learning curve, but the work I have been doing has been interesting and feels valuable.

The apprenticeship is 18 months long and I am 4 months in at the moment. There is not a rotation element in terms of moving teams for an extended period of time, however, there has been discussions around shadowing the other apprentices within their teams to see more of their team/product.

My experience so far has been nothing but positive. I believe that the apprenticeship scheme is a great opportunity for those who don’t have a STEM degree to gain experience and begin a career in technology."
